A Custom Built 3006 Springfield Rifle – The Perfect Choice for Every Hunter

When it comes to hunting rifles, there are few more iconic rounds than the .30-06 Springfield. Capable of taking down even the largest game, the .30-06 has been a favorite of hunters and marksmen for generations. And when it comes to building a custom rifle chambered in this round, there are few better bases to start with than a Remington 700 long action.

That's exactly what Redleg Co did. They started with a Remington 700 long action, which we then meticulously blueprinted and accurized. We added a pinned recoil lug and pinned Nightforce scope base, using larger 8-40 screws for added stability. The result is a rock-solid foundation for the rest of the rifle.

Next up was the barrel. For this custom rifle, we chose a 20 inch Proof Research barrel. This barrel has a 1 in 10 twist, making it perfect for firing heavier bullets with greater accuracy and range. With the barrel in place, we turned to the trigger, opting for a Timney Hunter set to 3lbs. This trigger gives the shooter a crisp, clean break, making it easy to stay on target.

The stock is a HS Precision stock in OD and black, which provides a comfortable, ergonomic grip that's perfect for long hours in the field. The high-quality materials used in this stock are designed to handle the toughest conditions, making it an ideal choice for any hunter.

The scope is a Nightforce NXS 2-10x42, widely regarded as one of the best hunting scopes on the market. With Nightforce rings attaching it, this scope delivers crystal-clear optics and precise adjustments, making it easy to take that perfect shot.

Finally, the builders finished off the rifle with a Magpul FDE cerakote, giving it a sleek, modern look that's both stylish and functional.
